Job Overview
To assist our Director of Photography in implementing the visual aesthetic of our community short film, we are seeking an Assistant Cinematographer (AC) who is both tech-savvy and creatively inclined. In addition to ensuring technical accuracy throughout the shoot, your duties as an AC will include helping with camera setups, lens changes, and lighting configuration.
Working closely with the camera department and gaining practical experience with top-notch equipment, you will produce breathtaking images that perfectly capture the tone and emotion of the narrative.
Key Responsibilities
- Help the director of photography with the setup and preparation of the camera.
- Help with focus pulling, lens changes, and framing corrections
- Assist in controlling the lighting and camera equipment during production.
- Keep an eye on lighting configurations and offer electrical and grip support.
- Maintain visual coherence and address technical problems.
- Assist in handling footage backups and media offloading.
Requirements
- fundamental understanding of camera systems, including DSLR, mirrorless, and cinema cameras
- Knowledge of color balance, exposure, and lighting
- Experience in event videography, school projects, or short films
- Knowledge of media management, file formats, and resolutions
- Capacity to lift and move camera gear
- Schedule flexibility, including weekends and evenings
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency with external monitors, tripods, and gimbals
- Working familiarity with programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve
- familiarity with lighting kits, such as Aputure and ARRI
- Gimbal balancing or drone operation
- Understanding of safety procedures and grip/electric equipment
