Stage Drama: The Root of All Performance

Before cameras rolled, before edits cut — there was the stage.
The soul of VR1 was shaped under stage lights, curtain calls, and the raw silence between two lines of dialogue. “Kal Ke Kalakar” was born — a theater group founded by Kader Khan, later revived by his son Sarfraz Khan. What began as a tribute to traditional performance quickly evolved into a movement celebrating the timeless power of live storytelling.
Through Kal Ke Kalakar, we brought forgotten tales to life, revived street theatre forms, and connected with audiences in their most honest, unfiltered state — face-to-face.
Our journey from stage to screen isn’t a leap.
It’s a continuation.
The principles of theatre — emotion, timing, presence — breathe through every frame of what we create today.
VR1 honors that legacy.
And we’re just getting started.
Explore our theatrical past. Stay for the cinematic future.
